State House solar rally draws big crowd

November 17, 2015

Around 150 solar advocates converged on the State House asking state lawmakers to eliminate net metering caps in Massachusetts. Speakers from MassSolar, Environment Massachusetts, Vote Solar and the IBEW local 103 joined solar business owners on the steps before bringing their message inside.

Eversource's solar disinformation campaign

November 15, 2015

The utilities will say anything to get their way on net metering caps and solar.  Facts, it seems, are largely irrelevant. MassSolar has gotten hold of a PPT presentation Eversource has been shopping around at the State House to convince legislators to keep net metering caps in place.  The presentation is filled with inaccurate claims, half-truths and false information.

50 cents for cleaner air and a lower electricity bill

November 10, 2015

Would you pay 50 cents a month to breathe cleaner air, drink cleaner water, and ensure a more livable climate?

What if everyone who agreed to pay 50 cents a month for cleaner air, cleaner water and a more livable climate, also had their electricity bill lowered 70 cents a month?

That is essentially what the Net Meter Task Force report says will happen if we embrace solar power in Massachusetts.

To State Lawmakers: Raise the Cap and Prioritize Interconnection

Part 2: Taking aim at AIM's claims

November 10, 2015

AIM recently claimed that Massachusetts SREC prices are "out of line" when compared to the market price for SRECs in other geographies.

That claim seemed "out of line" with reality, so we did a little research on SRECtrade's excellent website to find out the truth. It appears AIM was quoting prices from the SREC I program which has been closed for over a year. Those rates are not available to new solar projects.

Part 1: What AIM and the Utilities Aren’t Telling You About Solar

November 9, 2015

The utility companies and the Associated Industries of Massachusetts (AIM) are claiming that solar power incentives will “siphon” huge amounts of money from ratepayers over the next ten years.

What are they not telling you?

Solar Benefits all Ratepayers: What some Business Execs are Getting Wrong

October 29, 2015

Executives from six Massachusetts groups that claim to represent the economic interests of Bay State businesses signed onto an October 19th letter asking state lawmakers to limit solar programs by keeping net metering caps in place and cutting compensation and incentive payments in the name of reducing energy costs in Massachusetts. The letter makes a number of false assertions and unsubstantiated cost claims about solar to make their case.
